The Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), Alamine Ousmane Mey, and German Ambassador to Cameroon H.E. Christian Sedat have discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Cameroon and Germany.

This is the substance of the audience Minister Ousmane Mey granted Ambassador Sedat on Dec. 19 in Yaoundé. During an hour-long session, both officials reviewed the current state of cooperation between their nations and explored strategic avenues for deepening their long-standing ties.

After the audience, Ambassador Sedat expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to have met with Minister Ousmane Mey. “I confirmed to the minister that Germany is a partner in terms of development,” he said.

“We also discussed the importance of the private sector and efforts to promote German companies. This was the essence of our discussion,” he added.

Ambassador Sedat highlighted priority areas of their conversation, including trade. He noted the German Embassy’s commitment to informing and encouraging German companies to participate in a trade fair scheduled for 2026 in Yaoundé.

Christian Sedat has been the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and Equatorial Guinea since July 2025.

Prior to this role, Sedat was a desk officer in the personnel department at the headquarters of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin from 2012 to 2016. He then served as the permanent deputy head of the Embassy in Sarajevo from 2016 to 2019.

From 2019 to 2020, he became the first deputy head of the West Africa department, returning to the personnel department until 2023. Sedat then led the embassy in Juba, South Sudan, until 2025.
