The Mayah estate has been in wanton disarray ever since George Fongoh Mayah passed on in 2013.

George Fongoh Mayah was an illustrious son of the Meta clan hailing precisely from Barakwe village and a duty conscious Cameroonian, who championed education and cultural activities in Buea Municipality and his village alike.

Starting the early days as an agriculturalist and a typewriter repairer, he soon dedicated his time to teaching people how to make use of the type writing technology, which served as early motivation for him starting a workshop to train professionals.

As a versatile and hardworking man, he kept in touch with the needs of his environment which propelled him to change the endeavor into an academy known as Inter Vocational Institute of Stenography. With the eventual need for schools to accommodate the growing population, he decided to change the school to Inter Comprehensive College, which eventually evolved to Inter Comprehensive High School which is what obtains till date.

Being a typical African man, he groomed a large family comprising three wives and 26 children. He also helped many young people in achieving their educational dreams. His untimely demise left a succession deadlock which has run for 11 years now. This has been very worrisome to the elders of the Meta and Barakwe Village, who have since made strides to help restitute the family.

This ugly scene caused the Fon of Barakwe, His Royal Majesty Hon. Barrister Teghen, to step in and ceaselessly call for peace to reign within the family as he resulted to consultative meetings with various traditional dignitaries and the family to respect the late Patriarchs wishes and finally pronounced his successor (Agha Fongoh Mayah) on 26th July, 2021.

Taking the reins of the family, the Next of Kin, (Agha Fongoh Mayah) called family meetings in which he asked all parties to unite and put an end to the unscrupulous and malicious practices propagated for the benefit of a few who hijacked the property.

At the behest of the Next of Kin (Agha Fongoh Mayah) a family meeting was called on October 9th, 2022 at 1pm and attended largely by the extended family both home and abroad by invitation. This meeting served as the bedrock in filling for Letters of Administration as the enlarge family deduced that the best way to solve the problem was through the letters. In this meeting each wife designated a child as representative in the Letters of Administration which was due establishment. Co-Administration was therefore attributed to Vivian Tefuh Fongoh Mayah, Enni Philomena Mayah and Barrister Peter Fongoh Mayah.

Calling on the general population, he reiterated the fact that they should desist from conducting any transactions with those who aren’t administrators of the said estate. On behalf of the Mayahs family, he extended thanks to the Governor of the South West Region, His Excellency, Bernard Okalia Bilai for a firm stand in propagating justice and also the Procurer General of Southwest and the entire judicial bench.
