Gajo Livestock, an agritech startup based in Cameroon, has been honored with the Royal African Young Leadership Forum Award.
This was during a prestigious event in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, that saw participation from 54 African countries. The ceremony took place under the auspices of the King of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and featured notable attendees, including Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Fotso Ngassa, the promoter of Gajo Livestock, was recognized among the top 100 young individuals making significant contributions to the development of the African continent. This accolade, Fotso Ngassa said, underscores the impact of Gajo Livestock’s innovative solutions in the agro-pastoral sector.
Gajo Livestock has been instrumental in advancing digital solutions that address food security and social protection across Africa. By leveraging technology, the startup continues to expand its reach beyond borders, ensuring sustainable agricultural practices and improved livelihoods for African communities.
According to him, the recognition of Gajo Livestock with the RAYLF Award highlights the growing importance of agritech innovations in fostering economic growth and stability in Africa. The event, which brought together key players in the African economy, serves as a testament to the transformative potential of young entrepreneurs like Fotso Ngassa in shaping the future of the continent.
Gajo Livestock was founded in 2006 by Fotso Ngassa, who was passionate about livestock farming. Now it has become the first Halal platform for the sale and purchase of standard traceable products, veterinary services, and ecosystem solutions.
Its products are in several forms: fresh, smoked, and live, with free registration for all players in the livestock sector, accessible with or without a smartphone.
Since its creation, the company has been able to campaign to raise public awareness of the importance of consumption-standard traceable products and organize training seminars for women and young people in urban and rural areas on new technologies to make them self-sufficient. All these are done to help producers in rural areas by creating a producer-buyer connection using innovative technology to encourage women and young people to be self-sufficient through the practice of livestock farming and standardizing the production system.
It is through these works that RAYLF awarded them in Nigeria recently.
“A big thank you to the entire team for their hard work, dedication, and passion that made this achievement possible. Your commitment and collaboration were instrumental in our victory. Together, we pushed boundaries and showcased our excellence in the livestock sector.” Said Fotso Ngassa after winning the award.
“A heartfelt thank you to the RAYLF organizers for this recognition and the opportunity to highlight our work. Your support is greatly appreciated and inspires us to continue innovating and making a positive impact in the agricultural industry. Thank you again for this invaluable opportunity!” he added.
He equally thanked their clients and supporters who have believed in our initiatives and contributed to our success. “Your trust and encouragement keep us motivated to strive for excellence. Thank you for being part of our journey towards a sustainable future in livestock farming in Africa,” he said.
The RAYLF Award is one of the world’s leading organic and sustainable mechanisms, or Africa’s young leadership achievement award, that harnesses, shapes, and recognizes the ambitions, energies, and success stories of millions of 20- to 39-year-olds across the globe. It has a mission to redefine centuries of the rich, resilient spirit of African kingdoms, which embodies many defining principles of its identity.
