Minister Libom Li Likeng Lauds St Digital Centre’s Commitment To Innovation, Excellence

Minister Libom Li Likeng on a guided tour

Minette Libom Li Likeng, Cameroon’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications, has applauded ST Digital for its outstanding services. The Minister’s commendation came during a working visit to the company’s Douala centre on Monday, July 14, where she was accompanied by Littoral Governor Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua.

This visit highlighted the crucial role of public-private partnerships in advancing Cameroon’s rapidly expanding digital economy.

During her tour, Minister Libom Li Likeng expressed deep satisfaction with ST Digital’s infrastructure and services, noting that the company’s achievements clearly demonstrate the private sector’s significant potential to drive national digital growth.

“As Minister of Post and Telecommunications and ICT, I’m truly satisfied because I’ve discovered that the private sector understands our vision,” the Minister stated. “We’re genuinely going to work together to achieve our country’s digital transformation. This isn’t just a data centre; they also offer cloud services, and I’ve seen they’ve already considered specific equipment for developing artificial intelligence.”

The Minister stressed the critical need for collaboration among the government, private sector, and civil society to accelerate digital transformation and meet Cameroon’s increasing demand for digital services. She urged other operators to follow ST Digital’s lead, especially given the new law on personal data protection, which will soon create high demand for secure, in-country data storage.

“ST Digital can’t do it alone. I’m calling on other operators to follow suit because, as you remember, last year we passed a law on personal data protection in Cameroon. Cameroonians will very soon understand the importance of having our data in Cameroon, so demand will be very high,” she added.

Antony Same, Director of ST Digital Centre, conveyed his pride in his team’s hard work and the recognition from the Minister and Governor. He highlighted the centre’s competitive edge, attributing it to their ability to deliver high-quality, innovative services like cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

“Today, we toured the data centre—not just the infrastructure but all the related services,” Same told the press. “What makes ST Digital competitive is that it doesn’t just offer data service infrastructure; it also provides quality and innovative services like cloud, which sets us apart.”

The visit to ST Digital Centre sends a powerful message about the immense potential for digital innovation in Cameroon. As the nation continues to invest in its digital infrastructure, private sector players like ST Digital are proving essential in fostering growth and development. With its cutting-edge data centre and cloud services, ST Digital is well-positioned to address the escalating demand for digital solutions in Cameroon. The centre’s dedication to innovation and quality service delivery makes it a vital partner in the country’s digital transformation journey.
