Mr President, I See You As A Man Of Peace – Hon. Cavaye Tells Biya

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, has described re-elected President, Paul Biya, as a man of peace.

Hon. Cavaye made the statement on November 6 during the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect, Paul Biya. The ceremony was attended by several national and international dignitaries.

“A true democrat is an apostle of peace,” Hon. Cavaye said. “Mr. President, I see you as a man of peace, the beggar of peace that you are and have always been.”

While indicating that the election has given its verdict, he stated that Cameroonians democratically made their choice.

“A true democratic society like ours makes its choice in the ballot box and not on the streets and, worse still, in the social media—the locus of social ills,” he said, adding that, “A true democrat does not resort to manipulation or seek to destabilise the country.”

He added, “You were incontestably re-elected by your compatriots in recognition of your patriotism. In actual fact, you have devoted your entire life to serve your country by relieving it of the yoke that hampered its forward march to prosperity.”

While hailing Paul Biya for offering this architectural marvel (the National Assembly Building) to the people of Cameroon through the National Assembly, he stated that the elected representatives are fully satisfied and profoundly grateful that he accepted, for the very first time in his long, rich and exalting career, to have a public edifice named after him.

“Frankly, I have always admired you as a venerable political figure, a patriarch and the wise man of Africa for the several years we have worked together,” Hon. Cavaye said.

As chance or destiny would have it, Hon. Cavaye stated that President Biya took the oath of office as President of the Republic for the first time on November 6, 1982, and acceded to the helm of this beautiful country.

“Forty-three years after, we have, once more, assembled here today, 6 November 2025, for the same swearing-in ceremony,” he stated.
