Dr. Njie Martin Esongo has officially taken office as the new Regional Delegate of Secondary Education for the Southwest Region, replacing Dr Hannah Etonde Mbua, who served the office for seven years.

He was installed on August 14, by Acha Gilbert Kwenti, Secretary General at the Southwest Governor’s office.

During the ceremony, Dr. Njie received the keys to his new office, a state car, and the round stamp, which symbolised the official handover of responsibilities. In his inaugural speech, the incoming delegate expressed gratitude to God and the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, for entrusting him with the role.

He pledged to collaborate with his team to develop a secondary education roadmap for the region.

“I am stable and calm though excited and grateful to God and my Minister, Prof. Nalova Lyonga. I’ll get to work with my collaborators and draw up a good roadmap for my region,” he said.

Outgoing Delegate, Dr. Hannah Ebonde Mbua, commended Prof Nalova for appointing Dr. Njie as her successor after seven years. She expressed gratitude to the state for the opportunity to serve as regional delegate, and praised her collaborators for their efforts, which contributed to her success.

“To imagine that someone stays in office for seven years is quite remarkable, I think the Minister has done well,” Dr. Hannah Ebonde said.

Dr. Njie, previously the Fako Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education, promised to start work immediately.

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic handing over of gifts to both the incoming and outgoing delegates.
