The Founding President of the Heritage Higher Institute of Peace Development Studies (HEHIPEDS), Prof. Willibroad Dze-Ngwa, has generously donated laptops to Edita Cheghe Ika, the newly crowned Miss Weh Youth Association (WEYAS) 2026.
Prof. Dze-Ngwa made this donation on March 2 at the Heritage University Institute Campus in Yaoundé. The event was attended by notable figures, including Dieudonné Ateh Lang Kah, National President of WEYAS, Kivine Deghe (President of WEYAS Yaoundé), and Mirabel Tah (President of WEYAS Nahtum Yaoundé), among others.
In his remarks during the donation, Prof. Dze-Ngwa congratulated Miss Edita Cheghe Ika on her election as Miss WEYAS 2026. He stated that during their recent general assembly in Douala that saw the election of Miss WEYAS 2026, he was inspired by the vision she shared for her tenure if elected.
“Her ambition to train five WEYAS youth who, in turn, will train five more resonates deeply with our educational philosophy here at the University Institute. I appreciate her ‘pass it on’ strategy and believe it’s important to support her in this endeavor,” stated Prof. Dze-Ngwa.
Emphasizing the importance of community service, Prof. Dze-Ngwa urged Miss Edita to work diligently and motivate other young girls to follow in her footsteps. Additionally, he pledged to provide her with two more desktop computers to further assist her mission.
Reflecting on the ongoing crisis in the Northwest Region, he noted that they had embraced the commitment to support internally displaced persons by providing free laptops and aiding those affected. He emphasized that if every elite from Menchum could sponsor just one child’s education, the transformation of the division, region and the entire country would be remarkable.
After receiving the laptops, Miss Edita Cheghe Ika expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Dze-Ngwa for his belief in her potential and the valuable gift. “I am overwhelmed with joy. This support not only helps me grow but will also significantly benefit my community and our country,” she shared.
She reiterated her promise made during the contest but added that she will train five WEYAS youth each month until the end of her mandate, inspired by the support she received. “With the resources provided, I commit to training five WEYAS youth every month until my term concludes to express my gratitude for this generous gift. Thank you so much, Prof. Dze-Ngwa,” she affirmed.
WEYAS National President, Ateh Lang Kah characterized the ceremony as a pivotal moment for WEYAS, stating that the gifts would significantly enhance the skills of youths in Weh village through Miss WEYAS 2026’s initiatives. He commended Prof. Dze-Ngwa for his unwavering support for WEYAS and affirmed that the delegation would act as ambassadors for HEHIPEDS.
