Fon Meh Buh II officially Installed Traditional Ruler of Esu Fondom

Fon Meh Buh II has officially been installed as the new traditional ruler of the Esu Fondom in Menchum Division, Cameroon. The ceremony took place on December 16, 2025, with administrative authorities from Wum and Zhoa in attendance, including Senior Divisional Officer Abdoulahi and Divisional Officer Garba Oumaru.

Coming from a long line of Fons, Fon Meh Buh II’s great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all previously ruled Esu, making him the first in recent history to ascend the throne from three consecutive generations of Fons. He’s educated, with degrees in Law and Political Science from the University of Yaoundé II, Soa, and is described as calm, disciplined, and approachable.

In his first address, Fon Meh Buh II called for peace unity and reconciliation among the Esu people, pledging allegiance to administrative authorities and vowing to protect Esu land.

The installation drew dignitaries from across Menchum Division and Nigeria, highlighting regional solidarity.

The Esu throne had been vacant since Fon Kum Achuo Kaw Zih Albert II’s assassination in March 2022. Observers are optimistic about Fon Meh Buh II’s leadership, citing his emphasis on continuity, unity, and respect for institutions

Fon Meh Buh II’s background and qualities seem to position him well for the role of traditional ruler. His educational background in Law and Political Science could help him navigate complex issues, while his calm and disciplined nature may foster unity and stability in the Esu Fondom.

Given the present context, his focus will be on Peace and Reconciliation. Fon Meh Buh II has emphasized peace, unity, and reconciliation, crucial for the Esu Fondom’s healing and progress. Land preservation he is also an area he vowed to protect Esu land, a sacred responsibility and potential source of community pride as well as Development and Collaboration through his pledge to work with administrative authorities could attract investments and development projects.

Some Challenges that awaits the new traditional ruler is healing and Unity. Building trust and unity among Esu people, especially after the previous Fon’s assassination is key to his role Addressing economic challenges and improving livelihoods, balancing modernization with cultural heritage preservation as well as Community Engagement.
