The Post’s Njodzeka Kernyuy Wins The Scoop 2024 Best Young Print Journalist Award

The Post Assistant Desk Editor, Njodzeka Kernyuy, has been recognised as the 2024 Best Young Print Journalist.

The prize was given during the excellence awards organised by the Scoop Media group in Kumba on Saturday, August 2. The award ceremony was also a commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Scoop Media Group’s recognition of talents.

Njodzeka Kernyuy, according to the Scoop Media Group excellence award was recognised because of his impactful journalism in 2024. Aside from playing a vital role at the desk furnishing stories to suit The Post Journalism, Njodzeka Kernyuy has told stories that have shaped lives in Cameroon.

“For the fact that you were selected for the award, know that you deserve it. It was not easy to go through the various nominees,” said the chairman of the award, Barrister Eseme Esembe, Mayor of Kumba one council.

According to Larry Esong, CEO of the Scoop Media Group, the award is the second largest in English-speaking Cameroon. He encouraged the winners to keep doing the good work.

“You know that someone is watching. We see you, and that is why we celebrate you, congratulations,” he said.

Talking shortly after receiving the trophy and certificate, Njodzeka Kernyuy said he was grateful to the Scoop Media Group for recognising the work he does.

“I am deeply honoured. This reminds me that I should continue doing the wonderful work we have been doing,” he said. “I am also grateful to The Post newspaper for nurturing me and giving me the platform to report and impact lives. I am also thankful to my colleagues who have collaborated with me, guided me and have encouraged me in several directions,” he added.

This is the first award Njodzeka Kernyuy has received in his seven years of working at The Post, starting from when he came as an intern.

To The Post Editor-in-Chief, Bouddih Adams, the award is a testament to the passion Njodzeka Kernyuy has demonstrated.

“Some people request for awards, other earned awards. This is an award earned. Njodzeka Kernyuy from the time he came to The Post as an intern, he was retained because of the passion for the profession” Bouddih Adams said adding that he showed sterling qualities in news gathering and processing.

“That is why from an intern, he was retained and later designated Desk Editor. His contributions have enabled The Post to stay on top as the leading English Language Newspaper. Congrats Njodzeka for this award is well earned” The Post Editor-in-Chief said.

The award ceremony in Kumba witnessed the presence of several officials including the Senior Divisional Officer of Meme, Mayor of Kumba I and III, Meme Divisional Delegate of Communication and Meme Police Boss.
