National language broadcasters across the Northwest Region have been tasked to master broadcasting techniques to ensure that information on good governance is disseminated accurately and without distortion.

This directive was issued during a one-day seminar organised by the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC), focusing on the PIC’s campaign to promote good governance at regional and local councils.

Speaking to the press after the seminar, the Public Independent Conciliator, Tamfu Simon Fai, stated: “We want our messages to reach the population without alteration. That is why we organised this workshop to equip broadcasters with communication techniques on good governance, which is essential for fostering development in our communities.”

He emphasised that these communication strategies aim to encourage grassroots participation in local development projects.

For their part, the Northwest National Language Broadcasters pledged to ensure that every broadcast serves as a beacon of peace while promoting good governance and development.

According to John Awa, President of the Northwest National Language Broadcasters: “If we uphold good practices, there will be no room for nepotism or embezzlement. We must respect ethical values, ensuring transparency and accountability. We will make sure we give a voice to the voiceless.”

In the same week, the Caravan for the Promotion of Good Governance was launched, with its first stop at the Bamenda I Council in Bamendankwe. Residents of Mendankwe were informed that the campaign seeks to enhance transparency and accountability, helping to curb malpractices within public institutions.
