Cameroonian Techpreneur, Moses Anong, Launches Digital Platform Connecting People To Nearby Services Instantly

In many Cameroonian cities, finding a reliable plumber, electrician, cleaner, or beautician often means making several phone calls, scrolling endlessly through contacts, or waiting days before someone becomes available. But a new digital platform is changing how everyday services are found and delivered.

Cameroonian techpreneur, Moses Anong, has launched TaQ App, a smart service platform that helps people instantly find and book trusted nearby service providers using geolocation technology. From cleaning and haircuts to plumbing, electrical repairs, and handyman services, TaQ allows users to access essential services directly from their phones.

The platform is also designed to create income opportunities by allowing everyday Cameroonians to register as service partners and receive job requests in real time.

Moses Anong is a Chartered Development Finance Analyst and entrepreneur passionate about using technology to solve real-life problems and improve livelihoods. His work focuses on empowering ordinary people and strengthening small businesses through digital solutions.

Raised in Bamenda, Moses began his professional journey as a telecommunications technician after graduating from P&T School Buea. He later transitioned into finance and development, pursuing further studies and building an international career.

His professional path took him abroad, where he worked with several organisations, including nearly seven years with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During that time, he was exposed to development programmes focused on reducing poverty and strengthening local economies.

Motivated by a desire to contribute directly to development back home, Moses continued his education, earning an MBA and later an MPhil in Development Finance. Through his studies and professional experience, he became increasingly interested in one key question: how can technology empower everyday Cameroonians and strengthen micro-businesses?

After returning to Douala with his family, a simple but frustrating experience sparked the idea that would later become TaQ.

One weekend, his son accidentally broke a water pipe while playing football. Finding a plumber on short notice proved extremely difficult. The plumbers contacted were either too far away or unavailable until the following week.

After several stressful calls, one finally agreed to come the next day.

In that moment, Moses realised something important: somewhere nearby, there was likely a skilled plumber available but unreachable, while households struggled to find help.

That gap between people who need services and skilled workers who need jobs became the foundation for TaQ — short for Take Action Quick.

How TaQ Works

TaQ uses a simple but powerful system. Instead of searching through long lists of service providers, users submit a request describing the service they need.

The platform automatically notifies nearby service providers, and only those who are available respond. Users can then select from the available options, making the process quick and efficient.

This approach eliminates:

  • Multiple phone calls
  • Long waiting times
  • Uncertainty about availability
  • Endless searching

Availability comes to the user — not the other way around.

Built for Cameroon

Development of TaQ began in October 2023, followed by continuous testing and adaptation to suit the Cameroonian environment. The platform officially began operations in Douala in July 2025.

Today, TaQ works with over 300 service providers and continues to expand its network.

The platform supports a wide range of services, including:

  • Plumbing
  • Electrical work
  • Cleaning
  • Hairdressing and beauty services
  • Handyman jobs
  • Home services
  • Technical repairs

By digitizing everyday services, TaQ helps service providers reach more customers while giving households faster access to trusted help.

 Empowering Everyday Cameroonians

Beyond convenience, TaQ contributes to economic inclusion by helping informal workers access job opportunities digitally. Many skilled workers rely on word-of-mouth recommendations, limiting their reach and income potential.

TaQ provides these workers with real-time service requests based on their location and availability, increasing their chances of earning steady income.

For users, the platform provides a faster and more reliable way to find services. For service providers, it opens doors to new customers and new opportunities.

As Cameroon continues to embrace digital transformation, platforms like TaQ represent a new generation of local innovation designed to solve real everyday problems.

TaQ is not just an app — it is a practical tool built for the realities of daily life, helping people solve problems quickly while supporting small businesses.

The TaQ User and TaQ Partners apps are now available on the App Store and Google Play Store.

Whether you need a service or want to earn as a partner, TaQ makes it possible.

TaQ — Take Action Quick.
