PlaYce Yaounde has officially launched its inaugural Education and Career Fair, transforming the capital’s premier shopping and entertainment center into a vibrant hub for professional growth.

Opening on September 3, the three-day event brings together a diverse lineup of universities, vocational institutions, career guidance experts, and corporate recruiters, all united by a single goal: bridging the gap between academic education and real-world employment.
During an opening press conference, panelists addressed the persistent challenges young Cameroonians face when entering an unpredictable job market. Speakers pointed out that many students navigate higher education without asking critical questions about their career aspirations, often leaving them with degrees that feel disconnected from modern employment needs.

To this effect, the fair is designed to directly counter this trend by offering clarity and direction before students complete their studies.
“Addressing this major challenge, PlaYce Yaoundé reinforces its civic commitment by providing a free space for information, mentorship, and opportunities,” stated an official during the opening briefing.
Organizers emphasized that the initiative serves as a crucial resource for both students and their families, offering clarity on emerging industries and high-demand fields.
An official from PlaYce Yaoundé highlighted the broader vision of the fair, noting, “The event aims to offer concrete, actionable solutions to questions from young people and their parents regarding fields of the future, in-demand skills, and emerging careers in Cameroon and across Africa.”

Diane Tebeu of the Yaoundé Vocational Information and Guidance Center who was in the panel commended the initiative, stating that it offers young graduates a rare opportunity to pause, re-evaluate their chosen academic fields, and strategically pursue their long-term professional dreams.
To maximize its impact, the fair features four main interactive activity hubs. Visitors can connect directly with employers in the Exhibitors’ Village, attend insightful presentations during the “PlaYce Talk” conference sessions, participate in personalized coaching at the counseling workshops, and follow live coverage at the media zone’s pop-up TV and radio studio.
